Joy Garnett

Based in New York, Joy Garnett is a painter who often develops her works from found photography. She looks for and tries to capture the blurred lines between photojournalism and art. She embarked on a new project and called it "Riot" one of the photos she used was that of a man named "Pablo Arauz" AKA "Bareta" who was fighting in Nicaragua against the Somoza. Pablo was throwing a Molotov cocktail when his photo was taken and some time later Joy used this photo and painted this image that created a great debate on content and the striping away of that content. A great article to read is "On The Rights Of Molotov Man" by Joy Garnett.
